Bike Works' mission is to promote the bicycle as a vehicle for change to empower youth and build resilient communities. Our vision is: Mobilized people. Thriving communities. Healthy planet. We were founded in 1996 by grassroots activists who were committed to increasing access to alternative transportation, investing in young people, and pushing for environmental justice in Southeast Seattle, a region historically underserved by transit, road safety planning, and cycling infrastructure.
