Serving on the board for the past few years I have seen how impactful Bike Works has been on the South Seattle community. In the midst of a pandemic, they adapted and continued to serve the community’s need for bicycles and repairs. Now with the pandemic in the rear view mirror, they are stronger and have moved from programming that only lasted for a matter of days or weeks to now a year-round presence in local high schools like Rainier Beach, and grade schools like Holy Family. In addition, support from people like you and me allows the development of new partnerships with community groups like Young Women Empowered that focus on serving female-identified BIPOC youth. Bike Works continues to deliver bike mechanic, riding, and social justice programming in a meaningful and ongoing way to the young people who stand to benefit most.
